After your child receives and reads this book, Discuss one or more of the following questions to help him/her make connections and build comprehension.

  • The children turn the box into a cage, a car, a house, and a cave. What else could they have made it? Make a list of 5 things. Share your list with a parent.
  • The children turn the box into armor and swords. Think of another story with knights and soldiers. How are the children like those characters? How are they different? Talk about it with a parent.
  • Mom called the box junk. It wasn't junk. The children played with it. And it could have been recycled. What other things can be recycled? Could they also be used as toys? Talk about it with a parent.
  • Find a box. You can find them at the grocery store. See how many things you can make from it! Share your box with friends!
