After your child receives and reads this book, Discuss one or more of the following questions to help him/her make connections and build comprehension.

• Charlie is reading his favorite book. What is your favorite book? Why? Talk about it with an adult.
• This book has a lot of different characters, such as: a bear, a pirate, and a dragon. What other story has the same kind of character as one of these? How is that character like the one in this book? How are they different? Talk about it with an adult.
• This book has a lot of words that rhyme with the word “book.” Make a list of words that rhyme with the word “cat.” See if you can write a poem using your words! Share your poem with an adult.
• This story starts with Charlie in a chair reading his book, and ends with Charlie in his chair reading his book. This is called a circular book - where the end circles back to the beginning.  Write your own story that circles back!  Share it with family and friends.
