Discovery Questions
Fewer children need glasses than older people. Why do you think this is the case? Have a parent help you look up why our eyes change as we get older.
Glasses changed the world. The printing press changed the world. Talk with a parent or other adult friend about how these inventions changed civilizations worldwide. Do you know of an older adult who remembers an invention and how it changed their life?
Benjamin Franklin invented the bifocals, but many people who have bifocals now don’t have a line in their glasses. This is a new development in glasses. Talk to 5 people who wear glasses. What do they wish were the new developments in glasses?
Pretend you are an investigator writing a story about glasses. Take data on what people you know who wear glasses think about them. You can ask, “Do you like your glasses? Do they help you see better? What do you not like about your glasses? What do you wish could be better/easier with your glasses?” Compile the results. Share the results with the people you interviewed!
