After your child receives and reads this book, Discuss one or more of the following questions to help him/her make connections and build comprehension.

  • Jack forgets he can't fly. He jumps off the bunk bed. Have you ever wanted to fly? Where would you fly to? Talk about it with a parent.
  • Jack got hurt. His parents took him to the hospital. Think of another story where parents take care of their children. How is that story like Jack's? How are they alike? How are they different? Talk about it with a parent.
  • Emergency rooms are usually very crowded. People usually have to wait a long time before a doctor can see them. Is this okay, or is it bad? Discuss this with a parent.
  • Pretend you are Jack. Write a letter to one of the doctors thanking him or her for the care they gave you. Tell them why their care was important to you. Share your letter with a parent.
