Yo Ho! Bob is a pirate. Bob's friend, Yellow Jack, is also a pirate. Is it possible to be both a pirate and a friend - especially if you want your friend's gold?

Discovery Questions

After your child receives and reads this book, Discuss one or more of the following questions to help him/her make connections and build comprehension.

• Bob has trouble reading the name of the British ship. What do you have trouble doing? Write about it. Share your story with a parent.
• Bob wants a real friend. Who else in another story, just wants a real friend? Use a Venn diagram. How are they like Bob? How are they different?
• Pirates are cool. But pirates break the law. Is it a good thing, or a bad thing to be a pirate? Talk about it with a parent.
• Make a list of five reasons why it would be wonderful to be a pirate. Then make a list of five reasons why it would be a terrible job. Share your list with a parent.
