Discovery Questions

  • John learned that too much chocolate is not a good thing. What do you love as much as John loves chocolate, and what could happen if you had the “chocolate touch?” Write about it.
  • The Chocolate Touch is a book that is fantasy—it couldn’t really happen. Think of another book of fantasy you’ve read or that has been read to you. How are the lives and struggles of the major characters alike or different? Use the Venn diagram, or draw one on the back, to show the similarities and differences.
  • In The Chocolate Touch John gets his wish and that changes his life. What would your classroom be like if every child got the wish of their dreams? Draw a picture or chart about it.
  • Re-write the end of the story, if Mrs. Midas had not turned into chocolate, and John had kept the chocolate touch.
