Animals Below Ground

Many of the animals who live below ground hibernate in the winter. But not all of them. Have a parent help you. Find three animals who hibernate. Then find three that don’t!
Some burrowing animals are considered pests. Have a parent help you. What are some of these animals? Why are they considered pests? Do they provide any benefits?
What do you think happens when it rains and burrows and tunnels are flooded? Talk about it with a parent.
Animal dens below ground can look like a maze or a path that is like a puzzle. With pencil and paper, draw a puzzle maze or path that has lots of twists and turns going from one side of the paper to the other. Draw rocks on some of the paths to make it more tricky to find a way out! Share your maze with a friend to see if they can travel your tricky path.
