Think of a time when you had to do something you thought was impossible to accomplish. How would you compare your feelings to Emily's? Did you have someone to help, like Emily has her dog Molly?
In this book, Emily is diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and has to rely on herself and her alert dog. Think of another story where the main character discovered their belief in themselves and had success in the adventure. How were the two stories the same and different?
Emily and Molly must rely on each other to overcome the harsh wilderness elements. If you were going on a backcountry adventure, who or what would you bring with you and why? How would those things be helpful on your adventure?
