Discovery Questions
In this story, Cara sees that Darby has a sad face. She decided to help him learn to skate. Is there another story you have read where someone was a helper? What happened in that story that reminds you of Cara in this story?
Cara sees Darby is sad and learns it is because he is afraid to try skating. Have you ever helped someone learn something new? Has someone helped you learn something new? How did it make you feel when someone was kind like Cara?
Sometimes, working together makes learning something new easier. Look around your house. Is there a job that might take a long time, like picking up toys? If you work with someone else to accomplish the job, it can go much faster. Try listening to music while you work. You might even have fun!
Cara is kind to her friends, and they are kind to her. With your adult, start making a kindness list. Every time you are kind to someone, or they are kind to you – write it down! It is nice to see how many people are kind around us. Maybe you can celebrate with your adult by taking a special walk when you do ten kindness acts a week!
