I Don't Want to be Big book cover
Frog does NOT want to grow up. Frog doesn’t need to be tall. Frog doesn’t want to be able to jump high enough to see in the trees. He’s just FINE being small. Besides, if you grow up, you don’t get to do fun things like jump in mud puddles with your best friend, Pig. Do you?

Discovery Questions

  • Frog does not want to be big. Do you want to grow taller or stay the same? What would be easier? What would be harder? To be short or tall? Why? Make a list. Talk about your list with a friend or family member.
  • The parent frog wants Frog to eat his dinner. What is another story you know where a parent wants their child to do something, and the child says, “No!” How are the parents alike? How are they different? Share your thoughts.
  • Adults are always telling children to eat “good food.” They want children to grow “big and strong.” Why is “good food” necessary for this? Talk about it.
  • What is your favorite dinner? Draw a picture of all of your favorite foods. Share your pretend favorite dinner with your family!
