Discovery Questions
Dr. Wells takes care of Gus. Gus has a check-up every year. Regular check-ups help us stay healthy. When was the last time you went for a check-up? Did you have the same experience as Gus at the doctor’s?
What kinds of animals do you think veterinarians treat? Would you be surprised that some veterinarians treat small animals, and some treat large animals? Some even operate on fish! What would it be like to be a veterinarian and work with animals?
The last page of the book lists different kinds of veterinarians. If you were going to be a veterinarian, what kind would you like to be? Why?
Pretend you are a veterinarian. Write a story about what your job is like. What you do for the animals you treat. Who hires you to look after those animals? Don’t forget to draw and color the pictures. Share your story.
