Discovery Questions

  • On page 26 Jack and Annie look into the Great Hall. They see people eating dinner. They ate very differently than the way we do. What else did the people of the castle do differently? Make a list of these differences. Share the list with a parent.
  • Annie shows the flashlight to the guards. They think it is magic. If someone from the castle came back with Jack and Annie, almost everything they saw would appear to be magic. What might not appear to be magical? Make a list. Share your list with a parent. See if your parent can add to the list.
  • Jack and Annie traveled to the time of knights. What did they learn about castles and knights? What questions do you still have? Why did people build castles? Why did knights wear armor? How did the people live then? With a parent research your questions. Write about what you learn.
  • Pretend you have a magic tree house. It can take you to different places. It can take you back in time. Where would your tree house take you? Write about your trip. Share your story with a parent.
