Discovery Questions

  • Bats are found all over the world. Where they live is called a roost. How is a bat’s roost like your home? How is it different?
  • Bats are mammals, which means they have a backbone, are covered with hair, and have live babies (instead of laying eggs). You are a mammal. How are you like a bat? How are you different? Talk about it with a parent or adult friend.
  • Bats are nocturnal. This means they are active at night. With the help of a parent research other animals that are nocturnal. Make a list of the animals you have found, and draw pictures of them.
  • With a parent or other adult, research bats on the internet. Find the bats that live in your area. What do they eat? Where do they roost? Write your own book about them. Don’t forget to draw and color the pictures!
