Discovery Questions
Officer Buckle stopped doing his safety speeches. He thought they made him look foolish. When was a time you felt foolish? What made you feel foolish? Write about it.
Pets can be wonderful friends. Sometimes they can be good teachers, too. Think of the other animal books you have read. What other animal acts as a teacher to another character? How are that animal and Gloria alike, and how are they different?
Officer Buckle loved giving safety talks, and he did it well. He liked helping the children and keeping them safe. Knowing that he had made such a big difference to the children, was it a good idea to stop? Talk about this with a parent.
Write your own list of safety tips! Make sure you include tips for inside the house, outside the house, and what to do in different emergencies!
