One of the stories is about a friendly ghost who just wants to play. If you could play with anyone from the past who lived long ago, who would it be and why? What would you plan for an afternoon of fun?
This book is made up of several short stories put together. Think of another book you have read that is made up of several stories. Were they all around a theme (the theme of this book is scary stories)? Do you think the stories pair well together? Are there any you would take away or any stories you would add to the collections?
Are there older, abandoned buildings in your area? What do you think took place in those buildings? Who lived or worked there? Think of a character who might have lived there and create a story about them. Include details like what they might have liked to do, what they did for work, how they dressed, and what a day in their life was like. Tell someone your story and see what they think!
Adults around you might have been told stories that were meant to be a little scary but fun when they were children. Ask your adult to tell you a story they grew up with. Was it meant to teach a lesson, or was it meant just for fun? Did it sound like other stories you know? What did you think about their story? Make sure to share your own story back!
