When have you secretly helped someone? What did you do? Did they ever find out it was you who helped them? Share your story with a parent.
The elves help the shoemaker and his wife make enough money to live comfortably again. Who in another story helps someone out? Compare that character to the elves. Use a Venn diagram.
The elves asked for nothing in return from the shoemaker. Still, he and his wife made the elves warm clothing so they wouldn't be cold. Why was that better than just saying, "Thank you?" Talk about it with a parent.
Pretend you need the elves' help. What would they help you do? How would they help? Write it in a story. Share your story with a parent! Don't forget to draw and color pictures!
