Discovery Questions

  • Dog’s noses are amazing! They have a special chamber that holds scents so the dog can figure out the smells later. Look up more information about dog’s noses with an adult. How much better are dog’s noses than our noses? Why? How? Share what you learn.
  • Dogs have been trained to do many kinds of jobs. Make a list of all the special jobs dogs can do that humans can’t! Look up more information with an adult if you run out of ideas. Share your list.
  • Dogs have been “human’s best friend” for many years. Dogs are similar to wolves. When do you think dogs became more domesticated (which means they live with humans) than wolves? What are some things dogs can do that wolves can’t? What are some things wolves can do that dogs can’t?
  • There are many stories about dogs helping humans. You can go with your family to the library for free. Ask the librarian if they have other books about dogs and humans you can read.
