Discovery Questions

  • Think of a time when you have played "Who would win?" What two things, creatures, or people would you include? If you've never played "Who would win?" try with a friend or family member. Take turns and come up with facts to help justify your answers. Your first game might be based on this book!
  • Have you read another book where two animals, creatures, or objects are being compared? How were the text features (graphs, pictures, charts) the same or different from this book? Do the features help make the book more understandable?
  • This book compares and contrasts two creatures: a great shark and a killer whale. As you read the story, make a Venn diagram (two overlapping circles). Use a circle for each animal and list what features make them special. Where they overlap in the middle, list the features that are the same.
  • Create your own "Who would win?" story. First, decide two things to compare and contrast. Next, look up facts to include in your book. Finally, add details like charts, facts, tables, and pictures to help your readers decide who would win!

Discovery Questions are available in English and Spanish in the app.
