Principal:
We’ve got a nationwide crisis in reading. Sixty-five percent of students don’t read at grade level. And the summer slide. You know about the summer reading slide. Well, the summer reading slide is where most disadvantaged kids lose between two to three months of learning because they’re not reading during the summer.
That’s not good. We’ve got to keep them reading all summer. So we’ve got some work to do.
Narrator:
Unlike other reading programs, Kids Read Now engages students by giving them the choice of books. Then, we mail those books to them, about one per week, all summer long. Kids Read Now serves hundreds and thousands of students across the country. As you can imagine, this is a formidable challenge, and we need your help.
Your generous contribution to Kids Read Now helps bring this proven program to students across America. And there are many ways to get involved. Find out how you can empower the next generation of readers.
