This was the final Community of Practice meeting of the year, where Kristen reflected on the training resources and tools developed throughout 2026 to support family reading practices. The session reviewed all previous meetings starting from December, including discussions on family engagement plans, removing reading barriers, fluency activities, vocabulary integration, background knowledge building, and summer reading routines. Kristen highlighted the importance of the "1-5-10" model for providing explicit guidance to families on reading activities based on available time, and emphasized the critical role of oral language development and leveraging family cultural strengths. The meeting covered how to access all recorded caregiver sessions in both English and Spanish through the Kids Read Now website using the code UTPD25, and discussed the framework of using Kids Read Now books with embedded discussion questions to support comprehension and vocabulary development at home.
